Frequently Asked Questions

You don't need to be in a total crisis to deserve support. High-functioning anxiety and perfectionism often mean you look incredibly put-together on the outside while feeling completely empty, anxious, or exhausted on the inside. Being the "success story" in a first-gen family often comes with a silent pressure to never complain or show weakness. Therapy is a confidential space where you can take off that heavy mask and finally focus on your own well-being.

Yes, completely. One of the biggest complaints BIPOC and first-gen professionals have is the exhaustion of having to "educate" a traditional therapist on basic cultural norms, family hierarchies, or systemic stress. Being first-gen, I already understand the nuanced dynamics of immigrant families, code-switching, and cultural guilt. You don't have to translate your life here, we dive straight into your actual healing.

More than okay—it’s encouraged. As a bilingual clinician, I practice with total language fluidity. You never have to worry about finding the perfect English translation, slang, or memory. You can switch between English and Spanish mid-sentence or go full Spanglish, if you wish. We use whatever language helps you feel the most connected, raw, and authentic in the moment.

No, my approach is highly intentional and goal-oriented. While some clients enjoy having a long-term, trusted sounding board for their professional growth, many individuals begin noticing significant relief from chronic stress, anger, or imposter syndrome within 6 months. Trauma work takes a bit longer, but by using EMDR and somatic therapy rather than just open-ended venting that feels like chismeando, we focus on clearing the root patterns efficiently so you can move forward with lasting growth.

Operating as a private-pay practice allows me to protect your absolute privacy and provide a premium level of care tailored entirely to you, not an insurance company's rules. Insurance companies require me to give you a permanent mental health diagnosis and can audit or restrict the number of sessions we have. By bypassing insurance panels, our work remains strictly confidential, highly collaborative, and focused entirely on your actual goals. I can also provide a monthly superbill if your PPO plan allows for out-of-network reimbursement.
-
A superbill is a specialized, detailed medical receipt that I can provide for you at the end of each month through your secure client portal. It contains all the exact billing codes, clinical information, and license details that insurance companies require to process a claim.
If you have a PPO insurance plan that includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you can submit this superbill directly to your insurance company. Depending on your specific plan and deductible, they may reimburse you for a significant portion of your session fees.
Because every insurance policy is unique, I always recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card before our first session. You can ask them: "Do I have out-of-network benefits for behavioral health telehealth sessions, and what is my out-of-network deductible?"
